Great news: Robert Duvall has reunited with Lonesome Dove scriptwriter Bill Wittliff for A Night in Old Mexico, a comedic contemporary western that will have its world premiere next month at the prestigious SXSW Film Festival in Austin.

The movie -- a small-budget labor of love Duvall and Wittiff have been trying to get off the ground for nearly 25 years – spins a colorful tale about a cantankerous Texas rancher who’s forced to give up his land and home. Rather than quietly retire in a seedy trailer park, Red Bovie (Duvall) defiantly hops into his Cadillac, picks up his estranged grandson (Jeremy Irvine of War Horse), and sets out for one last adventure filled with guns, booze and, of course, women.

Directed by Emilio Aragón, A Night in Old Mexico is slated to open simultaneously as a theatrical and video on demand release in May.
